About Gemma

I’m a Specialist Sports Dietitian dedicated to helping athletes and active individuals optimise their nutrition for better performance, improved health, and confidence in their training. As a Registered Dietitian, I provide evidence-based, practical, and personalised advice that supports realistic and sustainable progress.

Alongside my role as a sports dietitian, I also work in the NHS as a Specialist Dietitian and have over 8 years of clinical experience. My expertise lies in diabetes, weight management and gastrointestinal conditions. I also have a keen interest in female health, in particular perimenopause and menopause.

As an endurance athlete myself, I understand the struggles many of you have juggling training, everyday life, family and work commitments. I also know how frustrating it is when nutrition feels confusing or becomes a barrier to performing your best. My goal is to take that pressure away by helping you fuel well, feel healthier and stronger so you can focus on what you love doing the most.

Whether you’re aiming for a personal best, returning from injury, or simply want to feel better in your training, I’m here to support you with tailored nutrition strategies that work for you.

Why I Run & Became a Sports Dietitian

I started running in 2020 during lockdown to manage stress and keep fit. After completing Couch to 5K things escalated (I’m sure many can relate!). By 2022 I’d done my first marathon in Edinburgh and raised money for Alzheimer’s Scotland.

Despite enjoying the challenge of a marathon, I wanted more and found a love for ultras. Although I live just outside of Edinburgh, I grew up in Forres, Moray. It is a huge draw for me and many of my ultras have been part of the Moray Way Ultra events.

The more I ran, the more I delved into the world of sports nutrition to help me reach my own goals. Wanting to work in this area of nutrition, I took the leap to go back to university whilst still working in the NHS to complete my postgraduate in Sports Nutrition through Leeds Beckett University.

It is an absolute pleasure to work with athletes and support them with their health and performance goals.
